“Has anybody ever hidden money in a coffin?”
York Settlement Community Players are proud to present Joe Orton’s Loot.
A masterfully scandalous, free-wheeling and ferocious farce about life’s ultimate taboo…death.
YSCP is one of York’s leading amateur theatre companies, entertaining the people of the city and beyond for over 100 years.
The play itself will start at the advertised time but the director, cast and production team have devised some pre-show entertainment for your enjoyment. The doors will open 20 minutes before each performance and you are encouraged to take your seat early.
Joe Orton wrote Loot in 1965, and the script is deliberately controversial and thought-provoking – tackling some very dark themes and including satirical attitudes on the Roman Catholic Church, the police force and how society views death.
The YCSP production stays largely close to the original script and as such has an age guidance of 16+. The show contains adult themes and offensive language (including sexism and xenophobia). There are also sexual references and references to sexual assault (including rape and necrophilia) and references to smoking on stage.
Join us for a Post Show discussion on Fri 21 Feb after the 7.45pm performance.
