York Theatre Royal Seeks a Researcher

York Theatre Royal are looking for an experienced part-time freelance Researcher to (i) undertake research, guided by the questions and interests of diverse community groups relating to the legacy of the Rowntree family in York and (ii) support community engagement with, and interpretation of, these research /heritage findings, as part of York Theatre Royal’s Summer season in 2025.

Expected c.50 days in total across the project.

It is anticipated that the Researcher will work remotely, periodically attending meetings at York Theatre Royal and in community settings, throughout the project

Applicants need to have the following skills and experience:

– Relevant experience in carrying out research of this multi-disciplinary nature and documenting findings

– Knowledge of/background in archiving; attention to detail

– Experience of working in participatory, community settings

– Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

– Some understanding of the creative arts

– Willingness to travel across York as necessary (ideally using public/green transport)
