York Theatre Royal Seeks a Project Manager

York Theatre Royal are looking for an experienced part-time freelance Project Manager to manage delivery of Sweet Legacies (working title), an exciting, creative community project that will engage diverse community groups in discovering and exploring the legacy of the Rowntree family in York, in the year marking the 100th anniversary of the death of Joseph Rowntree.

Hours: Flexible, with some evenings and weekend working, average 2.5 days per week over 40 weeks from early Jan 2025 to end Sep 2025.

It is anticipated that the Project Manager will work both remotely and at York Theatre Royal and other locations as necessary.

An Enhanced DBS check is a requirement of this role.

Applicants need to have the following skills and experience:

– Experience of Project Management: Proven track record of managing complex projects from inception to completion, within the arts or community sectors

– Experience of high-quality community engagement

– Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse community groups effectively, ensuring broad participation and inclusivity

– Experience in developing and implementing strategies to involve local communities in projects, creating meaningful opportunities for participation, and fostering a sense of ownership and pride within the community

– A commitment to inclusivity: A deep commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the project. The candidate should actively seek to remove barriers to participation, ensuring that the project is accessible and welcoming. They should have experience in creating inclusive environments where everyone feels valued and respected

– Exceptional organisational abilities, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines. The candidate should be able to coordinate all aspects of the process, including workshops, trips, sharings etc

– A strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of individuals, including volunteers, artists, and community members. The candidate should be skilled at building and maintaining positive working relationships, supporting team members, and fostering a collaborative environment where everyone is working towards shared goals
