York Theatre Royal is looking for a Director to direct Mayflies, a new musical theatre piece by Gus Gowland, which has a cast of two actors and will be performed on our main stage. Rehearsals will take place in York.

We are offering a freelance contract. The fee is £6,000, inclusive of all expenses.
Applicants need to have the following skills and experience:
• Have directed a minimum of three professional productions
• Ability to work with material and performers to create nuanced, high-quality performances
• Ability to work to tight budgets and timescales and work with multiple creatives (performers, writers, musicians, design team etc) to ensure smooth running of the development, rehearsal process and performances
• Experience of working with new material
• Experience/confidence in working with musical director/musicians
• Experience of working with actors to create movement and fluid transitions on stage
• Dramaturgical skill and desire to help shape new writing
