Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) comes to York Theatre Royal

Men, money and microphones will be fought over as Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of), a unique and audacious retelling of a certain Jane Austen novel comes to York Theatre Royal from 4-9 November.

The stakes couldn’t be higher when it comes to romance but it’s party time so expect the show’s all-female cast to deliver a string of pop classics including Young Hearts Run Free, Will You Love Me Tomorrow and So Vain.

Isobel McArthur, the writer of the show, directs this new production of the West End hit which has already won her the unprecedented double of an Olivier Award for best comedy and the Emerging Talent Award in the Evening Standard Theatre Awards.

 

In the cast are:

Emma Rose Creaner (from Cork) as Tillie, Charlotte Lucas, Charles Bingley and Miss Bingley. Previous credits include Peter Pan at the Gate Theatre, Dublin, and Tartuffe at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin.

Eleanor Kane (from Glasgow) as Anne, Mary Bennet, Lydia Bennet and Mr Gardiner. Previous credits include Medium Alison in Fun Home at the Young Vic and Hex at the National Theatre, London.

Rhianna McGreevy (from Brighton) as Flo, Mrs Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy. Previous credits include The Winter’s Tale at Shakespeare’s Globe.

Naomi Preston Low (from Ilford) as Effie and Elizabeth Bennet. Previous credits include Further Than the Furthest Thing at the Minack Theatre, Cornwall, and The Wind and the Rain at the Finborough Theatre.

Christine Steel (from Glasgow) as Clara, Jane Bennet and Lady Catherine de Burgh. Previous credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Scottish National Orchestra.

Also joining the company are Isobel Donkin (from Washington, Tyne and Wear), Susie Barrett (from Portsmouth) and Georgia Firth (from Frodsham).
