York Theatre Royal is delighted to announce that Michael Slavin has been appointed Interim Chief Executive. Michael, who is currently the theatre’s Operations Director, will start his new role in January.
Michael is a York resident. He first visited York Theatre Royal aged 3, and has been a regular attendee ever since. Michael said “I know first-hand the profound capacity theatre has to change lives for the better. Being part of the committed, resilient and enthusiastic staff team at the theatre for the last 5 years has been a joy, and it is my pleasure to continue working with such amazing individuals. We are here for the people of York: to deliver fantastic shows on our stages, brilliant and inclusive outreach work for people of all ages in our community, and to warmly welcome everyone into our building! I hope to see you here soon”
Ann M Green CBE, Chair of York Citizens’ Theatre Trust said “The Board of Trustees wish Michael every success in his new role. We firmly believe his knowledge, experience and determination will enable the entire staff team to work together to ensure a strong and sustainable future for our theatre.”
Michael will work alongside current CEO Tom Bird, until Tom leaves in February to take up his new role as Chief Executive at Sheffield Theatres.
