Following on from Noughts and Crosses we are delighted to present the world premiere adaptation of Crongton Knights (Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize Winner) with Pilot Theatre, a company renowned for producing high quality theatre relevant to young people.
Life isn’t easy on the Crongton Estate but when the magnificent six set out to help a friend in trouble, much larger problems come their way.
Although, with the help of a few good friends nothing is impossible and lessons learned the hard way are ones you’ll never forget. That’s when a crew becomes a family.
Crongton Knights addresses contemporary issues that young people confront on a daily basis presenting a range of moral dilemmas where characters are forced to make choices for good or for bad.
This production offers young people an opportunity to see themselves reflected in stories on stage whilst the characters’ diverse backgrounds and life experiences allows young audiences to learn about and empathise with others.
Check out our great value schools offer – £15 school tickets and a free teacher ticket for every 10 paid students. All tickets subjects to availability. Contact our Box Office on 01904 623568 for more details.
The play and accompanying workshops will provide a great opportunity for students studying Drama and Performing Arts, or English at GCSE, BTEC or A level. As a text it provokes discussion about what it feels like to be a young person embarking on life in an adult world.
This production will have Pilot’s trademark characteristics of innovative design, ensemble performance style and content highly relevant to young people, with accompanying education resources both online and in the form of one-off workshops and participation programmes for schools/colleges looking to engage in a longer project with Pilot.
Participation projects for schools and young people
This is the second production in a four year programme of work by the consortium (Pilot Theatre, Derby Theatre, Belgrade Theatre Coventry and York Theatre Royal) to create and tour inspiring new work for younger audiences so we have the opportunity to really develop our engagement and participation work with schools and young people over an extended period.
