Call out for Front of House volunteers for Sovereign

A new opportunity is available for local people to get involved with York Theatre Royal’s world premiere of C.J.Sansom’s well-loved York-based Tudor thriller Sovereign. Applications are now open to join the Front of House volunteer group, to welcome audiences to performances which take place 15 – 30 Jul.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to be involved in a range of tasks including  supporting set up, ushering, cloakroom, entrance and exit management, ice cream and programme sales, light cleaning, supporting the Friends with the Green Room and close down. Volunteers will be supported by York Theatre Royal staff from our current Welcome Team and a Duty Manager so no previous experience is necessary.

We would like volunteers to commit to 5+ shows across the run of performances. Find the full performance schedule here.

There will be two induction sessions on Monday 3 July and Thursday 6 July at 6pm. FOH volunteers will need to be available to attend one of these.

Main Duties:

• To assist in stewarding audiences attending performances
• To offer assistance to audience members regarding accessibility
• To sell programmes, ice creams and merchandise as required
• To assist with cloakroom management as required
• To assist the Friends of York Theatre Royal with organising and staffing the Green Room, hospitality area
• To act as entrance and exit door stewards to ensure security is maintained and access and emergency evacuation is possible when required
• To ensure all public areas are kept clean and tidy at all times
• To have an understanding and overview of the community project and to be able to answer general enquiries
• To assist in ensuring a high level of presentation in the public areas at all times, including light cleaning duties as and when required
• To be aware of and abide by licensing regulations at all times
• To attend pre/ post show briefings and training as appropriate
• To maintain a high standard of personal presentation at all times
• To carry out other specific duties that may be required
