With swashbuckling adventure All New Adventures of Peter Pan set to open tonight (Friday), York Theatre Royal has today announced plans for their 2023 Christmas pantomime: the timeless, family favourite Jack and the Beanstalk.
Promising stunning sets, lavish costumes, breath-taking special effects and of course lots of panto magic, the show will be another co-production with Evolution and will run from 08 December 2023 to 07 January 2024.
Back again will be panto favourite Robin Simpson (Mrs Smee in All New Adventures of Peter Pan and Manky in Cinderella). Robin, who was nominated for a 2021 British Pantomime Award for his role in Cinderella, will be returning as the Dame. Further casting will be announced in 2023.
Written by Paul Hendy and produced and directed by the same team behind the spectacular Cinderella in 2021 and this year’s All New Adventures of Peter Pan, the show is set to be a fe-fi-fo-fun extravaganza!
Chief executive Tom Bird said: “We’re overjoyed to be working with Evolution again on another spectacular pantomime for 2023. Jack and the Beanstalk is such a well-loved story and we can’t wait to bring our fresh new take on it.
We are also thrilled to have Robin Simpson on board once again. Audiences absolutely loved his Ugly Sister in Cinderella and he is an absolute joy to have on our stage. People of York you are in for a treat!”
Tickets for Jack and the Beanstalk go on general sale on 2 December from 2pm. A ticket price ‘freeze’ is in place to ensure costs at the same level as 2022 – with seats available from as little as £15.
Discounts are also available for groups and on family tickets – with a special ‘early bird’ offer for any bookings in January or February. Further details can be found on the York Theatre Royal website or via Box Office: Box office 01904 623568 | yorktheatreroyal.co.uk
