About The Festival

The National Theatre Connections festival is a celebration of young people, theatre-making and the importance of access to the arts.

York Theatre Royal is proud to play host to this annual celebration of new theatre for, by and with young people. Each year the National Theatre commissions ten new scripts for young people, written by some of the UK’s best playwrights. Hundreds of school and youth theatre groups up and down the country take part – transferring their play from their own school hall or theatre to a professional theatre as part of the process.
